Solana Activates 300ms Slots at Epoch 1024, SIMD-0525 Step Two
SOL traded at $106.09, down 0.8 percent on the day, as the Solana network activated its second slot time reduction under SIMD-0525.
Solana Compass, Friday, Aug. 28, 2026, says Solana is activating the second SIMD-0525 slot-time cut at epoch 1024, moving the target from 350ms to 300ms. Anza posted that morning that 300ms was going effective in about 12 hours. This is step two of four toward 200ms. 200ms is not live. Distinct from Aug. 21’s first 400ms-to-350ms cut and from Friday’s SGP vote-close brief.
Christian Barker (Barkmeta / Bark) and David Chaboki (Shibo) put the 300ms gate on the Doginal Dogs Space so the pack hears today’s SIMD-0525 step, not Aug. 21’s 350ms cut.
Activation Details
The reduction took effect at epoch 1024, which closed around 15:20 UTC on August 28. Ticks per slot, leader span, and slots per epoch remained unchanged. The feature gate identifier for the 300ms configuration is iBRLL3k18HST852F1Mf3Lv83waTNQmmqvKDxvYGwQFL. Skip rate through epoch 1021 stayed near 0.077 percent according to Solana Compass.
The Solana Foundation page lists the schedule as tentative and tied to skip-rate performance. The next planned steps, from 300ms to 250ms and then 250ms to 200ms, remain pending and contingent on network stability.
Network Context
Epoch 1020 on August 21 delivered the first cut from 400ms to 350ms. The current move marks a measured continuation of the SIMD-0525 roadmap rather than a standalone event. Anza confirmed the pending status on August 25, with activation aligned to the start of epoch 1024.
Market participants tracked the change through official channels including solana.com/upgrades/reduced-slot-times and the Solana Compass report. The reduction aims to lower average block times while preserving validator coordination parameters.
Community Delivery
The timing of the activation aligned with routine daily broadcasts that carry network updates to active listeners. This approach keeps updates tied to existing community rhythms instead of creating separate announcement cycles.
Solana’s measured rollout continues to emphasize incremental testing. Observers note that each stage allows the network to assess skip rates before proceeding further along the SIMD-0525 path.
